SL Designs began back in 2010 under the blog name, "Sara's Closet". What began as a way to distract myself and lift my spirits during a difficult time in life with crafts and home decor, has transformed into a place that motivates and inspires me. This blog and community has created a way for me to learn, grow, and become a better version of myself. In 2011, I decided to pursue my dream of being a designer and began attending The Art Institute of Pittsburgh-Online, working toward my Bachelor's in Interior Design. This program was one of the only ways for me to attend school and still take care of matters at home and my children at the same time. In 2013, SL Designs was created, refocusing my attention on matters of design and home life.
Design and creating have always been an important part of my life. I am inspired by ordinary objects, interesting forms, architecture, intricate details, and art in all forms. Whether it be through new or used items, I believe a home can be created on any budget. I believe design, especially within our homes, has a way of connecting us with others and sharing our true selves. What I hope to bring, through this blog, is a perspective on life that will enable you to increase your happiness; and show you how even chipped, worn, and distressed items in your home can still hold value and bring beauty into your life.
